The photo for June was sent in by Priscilla Hawkyard
and is herself working with Cheval de Bois St.Beatrice

The question is: Around or Over?

Here is a photo of my student Dori riding her mount Jet.
Do you think they will remain partners or part company?

The answer is:  They actually remain partners!!
We couldn't find the picture to prove it but we have eye witnesses to back it up.

The first correct answer was from Heidi Plotts of Buck Lake, AB.
%75 said she stuck the landing
%25 thought they would part company

We look forward to showing off the New Forest breed this summer!!

News Form Carol LaDuke: A Full Circle Story

My daughter Mia who has waited a long time for a large pony  has just been gifted a lovely New Forest gelding
Manoravon Danny's Topaz. Topaz is trained to third level Dressage and will be my daughters'  dressage schoolmaster.
He was a winner of two classes at Lendon Greys' Dressage Youth Festival  and high point  last summer out of 63.

Ironically I owned/imported  this pony and began his dressage career in Wellington 10 years ago. Now he is coming "home" for good.
My daughters' first pony is New Forester Mr. Chips who we still own, and  residing at O'Connor Equestrian Center in Lake City and  a favorite with the young riders.
Topaz will join him at this state of the art facility and  will arrive in Florida next week.

We are truly blessed to have this opportunity to possess this wonderful pony again and like Chip, he was bred by the Davies of Manoravon Farm,Ontario, Canada.

News from Trevelyan Farm:

Fiddler (Forrest Flame x Iris) ridden by Cara Klothe attended a Jeanne McDonald Clinic in January, when the high temperatures for the day were 25 degrees.  Brrr!.

Also Forrest Gund just attended her first dressage show (schooling) Jan. 31st.  She scored 70% in both Training Level 2 and Training Level 4 which placed her 1st and 2nd respectively.  Ridden by Cara Klothe.

Starkwood Farm's imported New Forest pony stallion, Riddersholm Clinton (NFS 007/07/NA), topped off his debut show season by being named the 2009 USHJA Zone 1 Horse of the Year Pony Hunter Breeding, 3 year old, Champion.

A Tribute to Mrs. Holbrook

It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of Mrs. Betty Holbrook on February 23, 2009.  She and Dr.Holbrook were fundamental in bringing the New Forest Ponies to Canada with the introduction of Mudeford Streak in 1960 and many others later on.  We wish for her greener pastures and endless ponies to ride.

A Tribute
A Poem to the New Forest Pony

A breed so sure of foot and safe
A dream for parents or the tiniest waif
One of the oldest breeds in every ways(sic)
Dating back to ancient British days
A pony of character stout and tough
Surviving blizzards and conditions rough.
Nature so kind, so calm, so true.
Not timid or frightened by anything new.
